How to Use the
Stock Trading Calendar

Each monthly calendar highlights notable days that may impact trading, such as holidays and stock market closings. "Volatility periods" are also noted each month:

Third Fridays - Most stock options (calls and puts) expire on the third Friday of the month. Traders may close, roll over, or exercise contracts, which can increase trading volume and volatility.

Full Moons - The full moon is believed by some traders and researchers to have a psychological and behavioral impact on financial markets, although it's not universally accepted or proven in mainstream finance. Researchers found that stock returns tend to be lower on and around full moon days in global markets.

Mercury retrograde periods are cited as bad times for making big decisions or taking risks. Some traders claim the markets can become volatile, irrational, or prone to reversals during Mercury retrograde periods, which occur 3–4 times per year for about 3 weeks each. These time periods are noted for those who take this into consideration.

**** While lunar phases and retrograde periods may subtly affect trader behavior due to belief and media buzz, this should not replace data-driven trading strategies or fundamental/technical analysis.
